Download and install the app

  1. With your favorite supported mobile or tablet device in hand. Open the respective app store.
  1. In the app stores search field, enter Evo Authenticator.
  1. Click the Evo Authenticator app.

First time app activation

The very first time you use the Evo Authenticator mobile app, you’ll be presented with the welcome screen, which will require you to scan the Evo Secure QR Code.

If you’re a new user to your organizations instance of Evo, follow the steps in the welcome email (How do I register my device?). If you didn’t receive a welcome email, contact your organizations administrator.

  1. Click Scan QR to continue.
  1. Once the QR Code has been successfully scanned, click Continue.
  1. Set up your security questions and then click Save.

Congratulations! You have completed the initial setup of your Evo Authenticator mobile app.

When you open the Evo Authenticator mobile app, you’ll be required to authenticate based on your mobile devices’ security and biometrics settings.

For Android devices, if you don't have any Biometrics set up, the app will show that no Biometrics are set up and force quit. Please set up Biometrics to continue to use the Evo app

Exploring the App

Once in the app, you’ll notice you’re presented with your keys. Keys will have a name and subtitle beneath them. Clicking on the three dots on the right will allow you to edit and delete individual keys as well as copy the OTP value.

Tapping on the relevant key will show the rotating 6 digit TOTP code.

Let’s go over the functionality on this screen:

  • The ‘+’ button (top right) This button will be pressed to scan new QR codes, for both additional Evo Keys or 3rd Party apps you may be using.
  • Search Bar – This is used to search for any keys you may have.
  • Keys- The Main Menu, displaying your keys.
  • Approvals  This button will reveal any auth requests you approve or deny.
  • Settings -Additional functionality, such as Folder Organization or viewing your Offline Codes. We’ll explore this in depth later in this article.

Selecting the code

  • Name: The main name of the Key
  • Subtitle: Initially assigned to the email address of the key being used
  • Folder: The folder the key is set up in
  • Color: Change the color of the key for your reference

Approvals

When you get a request for an approval, a notification will be shown on your device and you'll get a request to approve or deny your login to your system within the app. Select your option and you'll be all set!

Settings Page

Here you can create/organize folders, get your offline codes or send app logs for support.

If you tap the Version field, you will copy the Registration ID/Unique ID to your clipboard. This will be important to send to the support team for troubleshooting purposes should issues arise.

Troubleshooting the Evo Authenticator App

If you have any issues, take a look at the Troubleshooting article!

If for any reason you needed to reinstall the Evo Authenticator app, you can restore your keys with a click of a button. Restoring keys is great, especially if you have several keys tied to your organizations instance of Evo Security.

If you need to restore your keys for any reason, please save your original QR code from the Evo Portal (This is typically your first Evo key in the list unless you have rearranged your keys)
